Apparently 2008 is the International Year of the Potato. I had no idea, and a quick but fruitless (or vegetable-less *ducks*) search of the forum suggests that I'm not the only one.

Fortunately, some folks in Victoria, Australia weren't so slack. (View attachment here.) According to the info sign I photographed, the potatoes are sculpted from rock found near Trafalgar and Thorpdale in the Gippsland region. The forks are iron. They're currently on display around Federation Square, Melbourne.

(Mario likes potatoes because I was actually in Melbourne to see the Game On exhibition. Highly recommended if you're going to be nearby -- allow at least half a day, and if you actually want to play stuff rather than watching then try not to go on weekends or school hols. )
