This is a beta test version of my new hold. I think it's about as done as it's going to get, so it's time to try to kick it out the door.

Mostly it's my usual moderate-to-difficult puzzley rooms. I added some temporary "warps" to try to make it easier to test. If you decide to test [part of] it, please let me know if you find any silly mistakes, or if you don't.

This was made with TCB version 3.1.0.54.

This maze theme is madness! Looks like a very nice job from what I've seen so far. I've played through the Antechamber (very do-able) and Level 1 (medium difficulty).

Now I've completed Levels 2, 3, and 4, except for the Level 2 secret room, which is driving me nuts! I like how you've used different ways to make blue doors block the stairs without physically blocking the stairs.

Comments on the first four levels:

Level 1:
Click here to view the secret text

Level 2:

No major comments -- rooms are all fun. Haven't solved the secret room.

Level 3:

I found these rooms kind of tedious.

Level 4:

1N had me working for a while...but the rest of the rooms were just plain fun.

I'm on to Level 5. Most of the rooms here are a good bit harder, though.

Josh

I'm about where the others are. Two USs (which are pretty much already noted):

Level1:2W- I just used 1 roach and awakened 1 evil eye.
L1:1N1E- Waiting at entr to room kills 1 roach.

Lotsa fun so far..

Unfortunately, I didn't have a lot of time today.

I went back to the Level 1 secret room, because I had originally tried to find an "alternate solution" similar to Josh's. I tried again and still could not reproduce Josh's solution in 3.1.0.54. Apparently, there's been a game logic change or a bug has been introduced in 3.2? (Or maybe I'm just really tired.)

I've gotten part way through Level 5, Level 6, and completed the Dream Level.

Ah yes...worth noting that I am running 3.2.0.73, so...maybe there's a DROD bug there somewhere?

L5 2N1E: Not too difficult. There's only so many combinations you can try, and some are obviously bad :)

L5 3N1E: After some initial analysis it took me about one minute to solve the room.

L5 1N1W: As you say there's nothing unfair about this room.

I'm having a terrible time with L5 1S2E, though. Maybe I've missed an easy way of doing it...

L5 2N has a trivial solution. You can step diagonal on the tunnel when you are sworded.

I need help on L5:

1N1E- Umm, are we supposed to 'hide' using the snake?
1S1W- I'm thinking release queen on turn 15, but no good.
1N2W- I killed the eye using BB's strategy, is there a strategy to exit?

L5:1s1w- Thx csr. Silly me. When I tried that, I used the first roach egg as an obstacle and was thwarted when the baby hatched and the movement order wasn't right for the 2 roaches to go vertically!

Just stack the wubbas diagonally, but from the preasure area. Easier said than done, but once you get a diagonal from a wall to the preasure plate filled with wubbas you can exit.

Yes, you're right in that using the fact that brain pathmaps don't go through rattlesnake bodies is the correct way to go. But you're thinking too narrowly.

Still working on those other two rooms. I'll have more comments on the rest of the hold later, but so far I must say that BoyBlue has produced even more genius in this hold.

L5 2N is definitely broken, but it should be easy to fix. And I need to fix the L1 1N1E entrance problem. I'm still sorting through all the comments, but it doesn't look like there are too many other surprises.

I'm interested to see how hard the L2 secret room turns out to be. It's definitely solvable, but there's no room for error.

L5 2N1W is a real showstopper for me. It reminds me of the room in MOO whare you had to get ONE baby trapped at ANY square. That was doable and fun. This just makes me feel tired. This is the kind of room that would make me give up on an excelent hold, or ask for a demo.

Can I have a demo?

There aren't actually that many constraints in this room. I bet you could do this in 1/4 of the moves. :)

Build 74 of 3.2 is up, and the pathmap bug is fixed (which means that my US for Level 1: 1N1E no longer works. It motivated me to find the real solution.

I have just three rooms left to solve on Level 5: 2W, 3N1W, and 2N1E. I sort of know what to do on 3N1W and 2N1E. I can't seem to figure out much on 2W.

l5:2w- If the obstacles were 1 higher, you could simply put 1 mimic facing north above the left obstacle to keep the aumtlich frozen. The solution adds a little to this.

It seems like it ought to be simple, but I just can't seem to see it. I can put one mimic blocking the other with his sword for upwards movement, but it doesn't work for going back down.

Nope...not yet for me.

All in all many brilliant rooms. I liked the hold, and the rooms I liked the least where rooms where you had to cut lots of tar ;)

A new version (beta2) is now available in the first message.

Changed rooms:

L1 secret room - Removed crumbly walls at entrance.

L4 1S1E - Moved everything down a few squares.

L4 1E - Removed relatively-useless vision token (inconsistent with the classic-DROD room theme; maybe inconsistent with the lack of one in L5 2S).

L4 secret room - Changed a bit to prevent at least one unintended solution.

L5 2N - Put back some oremites that got lost somehow.

All of these changes seem OK, but the changes to L5 2N don't appreciably alter the room. All I have to do is not step on the disarm token so that I'm sworded when I step on the power token. Then a move SE (for example) keeps me facing east for one turn, and I can just reverse direction on the oremites to face west.
