I thought of this idea for a Jeopardy!-style game about a week or so ago, and I'm curious to see how it will work out. Here are the rules:

1. Someone posts a category name and a Jeopardy!-style trivia clue.
2. The first person to provide the the correct response in the form of a question gets one rank point, and gets to decide the next category and clue (the category can be the same or different). You may obtain the correct response by any means necessary except PMing other forum members.
3. Incorrect responses (which include failures to respond in question form) aren't penalized with negative mods (unlike how regular Jeopardy! works). However, someone who does provide an incorrect response will be disqualified from providing another response to the same clue.
4. If there are no responses to a clue for 24 hours, whoever posted the last category and clue gets to post the correct response, followed by a new clue (in either the same category or a different one).

I suppose I'll start:

Category: Game Show History
Clue: It was the correct response to the very first clue that appeared on Jeopardy! when it was first syndicated in 1984.

Alright, we'll stick with Game Shows:

This 1980s game show has been edited and dubbed by many countries, including a UK version featuring the voice of Craig Charles.

What is Takeshi's Castle?

Incidentally, can someone explain to me the point of giving answers instead of questions in Jeopardy. It amounts to the exact same thing. Just say "which" instead of "this" in this example, and stick a question mark at the end. It also seems to me that an answer has multiple potential questions, rather than vice versa.

Correct.

As for why they do it backwards, I'd guess that they just saw it as a way to differentiate the show from other quiz shows back in 1964.

Sticking to gameshows.
The amount of money won by the first person on deal or no deal.

The original inspiration was (a) that there were trivia answers you could hear and know what the question was (e.g., "5,280"), and (b) there had just been a major scandal on a quiz show in which the producers gave the answers to the contestants, and so Merv Griffin's wife said, "Why not explicitly give them the answers?"

That sounds like the question itself...

If not, I'd guess "What is 15000?"
