Witherwood Castle : North Wing : 1 North, 2 East (0)

I could use some help with this one. I came in here when I was doing the North Wing, found it very hard, and left. I've been revisiting it from time to time.

Now I've finished everything else including the secret rooms, and I still can't do this one.

Any hints, guidelines?...

I'm a very inefficient player, but this might help. I've attached a screenshot of what the room looked like when Beethro killed the last spider.
