Being a big fan of clever bosses, I was wondering if there was a game (save Warning Forever and Fraxy) that consists of nothing but bosses, stacked one after the other. I remember reading something about a game like that somewhere, but that has already receded deep into the "lizard-man" part of my brain. Can anyone tell me if such a game exists?

Wikipedia saves me again. All hail wikipedia!!! (battle-cry)
I guess that if I can't get the type of game I want I'll have to make it myself.

Shadow of the Colossus is probably the best, although it's arguably not what you are looking for at all. Still bunches of fun though if you have a PS2.

Check out Alien Soldier for the Genesis (or through emulation though I do not condone this behavior in any way).

Each level consists of a small forward scrolling portion usually not lasting more than two minutes (the main purpose for this part is to charge up your health and weapons) and then fight the kind of insanely hard yet fair and innovative boss that Treasure is known for. These fights last up to 10 minutes and to overcome the odds you have a multitude of weapons and perfect controls that let you switch from fixed to free and ceiling to floor in a button press.

Sorry, got a bit "reviewie" there.

Don't the Mega Man series mostly count as this? Yes, there's a level beforehand, but it's rare that you get stuck there. It's always the fight against the Robot Master at the end that's the cool and tricky part.

I never thought the robot masters were actually that hard, but... :)
I was looking for something along the lines of a platformer boss, like things you'd see in the Castlevania games. I could've sworn somebody made an indie game like that.

I'm pretty sure you're thinking of Banana Nababa. I think the official place to get it is this forum thread, but that currently doesn't respond.. (edit: responded right after I posted :))

Wow! This topic got featured! I'm so proud... My topics, you see, they're like my children. I love some of them and sort of ostracize others.
