I was just wondering - what's the generally accepted process for inviting beta testers?

Is it all right to randomly invite people, or does one PM them or something first?

Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Generally, if someone has their named listed as being willing to beta test, you can just invite them. Make sure to include a clear detailed description of your hold, and what state it's in so that they can make a rational decision as to whether or not to beta.
