Gamasutra mentions DROD: The City Beneath out of the record number of entries to the IGF as one of the submitted titles that's well known to the indie gaming public:

GameSetWatch has what's *basically* a mirror of that article at: http://www.gamesetwatch.com/2007/10/2008_independent_games_festiva_2.php

Meanwhile, Independent Gaming has their own shortlist of the entries which also happens to include TCB: http://indygamer.blogspot.com/2007/10/igf-entrants-announced.html

Eeeew, who chose that screenshot to represent DROD? It really does not capture the variety and richness of elements at all.

Not only that but it actually leaves out the most fundamental element: The Really Big Sword (TM)

Heh. I kind of got warm and fuzzy when I saw they used that room. But then again, it's one of mine. Ah, well.

Incidentally, did anyone else notice that in the screenshot the room has been rendered unsolvable without a restart?

I'm really curious to see how we do: DROD's a polarising kind of game, I feel, in that it's either made just for you or it doesn't do anything for you. They seem to have farmed these games out to judges semi-randomly, so I suspect our chances depend on what judges we get. On the other hand, I might be too pessimistic: I'm sure it's possible to recognise the game as a good puzzle game, even if you don't like puzzle games that much.

Yeah. I wonder if we could give the game more notoriety by spreading the word that it's possibly the only puzzle game in existence that had the levels designed by four PhDs. :P

Ah, but does it count if not everyone of them had their PhD when they did the actual designing? ;)

(Then again, I could have an "Ing. HTL" from high school and a master in computer science by now, all I'd have to do would be some paperwork and 3 years of experience for the first and about 100 pages of paper and an exam for the latter, but I guess I'm too fond of procrastinating for both... :~()

Well, I still don't have mine, but I expect that to change within the next four or five months.

Right, so let's just make sure to delay the next game until you and Eytan get your PhDs. Oh, and I guess then I'll have to contribute some content instead of just suggestions and playtesting. :P

Ooooh, I'm getting my PhD in 6 months! Let me contribute a room, and then you've got *another* PhD contributor :)

I'm a community college dropout, but I should have my PhD in about 22 years. And then I'm gonna show you all.
