Is it just me, or is the rate of stabbing in that image going down slightly each time?

Probably just me. People's brains have a way of recognizing what is going to happen next. That is why seeing something that would take a very long time to complete the first time you see it seems so much longer than during the second time you see it.

I've clocked it and each frame lasts 0.50 seconds. So the entire stab takes 1 second.

And I can't imagine your computer being any slower than this 6 year old machine.

Well, my computer is around 8 years old, but I've got a lot of new material either added on or replaced, so it probably runs faster.
