Would it be possible to have "resume" support for files downloaded from CaravelNet?

This would mainly be useful for really big files such as The City Beneath.

My ISP will disconnect me after about 4 hours. My connection is through dial-up telephone servvice. I downloaded TCB from Plimus but was disconnected halfway through. When I got "all" the file and tried to use it, it tells me that the file is corrupted. It will take about 8 hours for me to download from CaravelNet and there is no way that my ISP will let me stay connected that long in one session.

(Plimus does support "resume" but will not let me download the file again.)

I think resume not working has something to do with all downloads going through some funky PHP script that doesn't even look at Range headers that get sent with the request... :(

This also means that all attachments here in the forum, when used in image tags, get re-downloaded every time - I wonder how much bandwidth gets wasted that way... :?

I would endorse bdwing's suggestion/request. I've had exactly the same problem and, as it now seems as though it will be quite some time until I finally get broadband here, such a facility as he/she suggests would be very useful.

Sorry for the late reply, I was out of town for a while.

Resume should be supported - on both attachments and in the downloads section, the scripts *do* look at the Range headers, and have for quite some time.

If it doesn't work for some reason, I'm not sure what to say.

Thank you for your response.

Hmmm.

Free Download Manager reports that the server does not support download resuming. Perhaps I need to try a different program.

Yeah, Free Download Manager doesn't work well for forum links, or the email download links for me Either. I tried Orbit for a bit, which could accept download links better than Free Download manager, but that started messing up too :? .

I'll try with GetRight once I get home.
