×In the last room in Deep Uncturage (2N2E), Beethro had a conversation with the Pit Thing. The Pit Thing told Beethro to go to the Library and ask about butterflies. So Beethro needs to walk back through Deep Uncturage, through The Uncturage, to The Fork. There, he should take the upper path to The Grand Library. (Don't go back out to The City.) There, he talks to 1st Librarian and they go on a search for information on The Mothingness (not what the Pit Thing advised Beethro to ask). Upon arriving in the cookbook section of the Library, take the stairs back to the front desk. Beethro should then ask 1st Librarian for information on butterflies, and they go on another search. If 1st Librarian won't do the search for butterflies, go back and talk to the Pit Thing again, then come back to the Library. The search leads to a room with a briar infestation. Go west from this room into the Under the Library level and start puzzling again.

×Then after completing under the library, you must finish the interlude. You close the doors so the briar can't go further. Then, you go where that girl says that she can't open the door because of the briars (5N3E) and then you must complete 6 levels: Homeward Ascent, Midway Outpost, Echo Chasms, King Dugan's New Dungeon, River Dugan and Holding Vats and then you go to the Naming Office, they give you a name and then you can pass the 2nd Gate

×Although, from a story telling standpoint, going to King Dugan's Castle and then leaving does not allow you to get a name. It does from a linear level standpoint, but the real reason why is because after several hours of deliberation (after you lead the Negotiator to the Deliberation Grounds) (also the amount of time it took Beethro to leave Rooted Hold and come back), the Negotiator allowed non-citizens to get a job.
Although you don't have to follow the story that well, the only way to fully enjoy the game the way the creators imagined it is to take in both the puzzles and the story. Trust me, both are amazingly good.
