I uninstalled DROD from my computer ("Why on earth?", you
may ask. "Cuz I'm at work," I would reply. Some old Greek
guy said "Know yourself", and I know myself, so I uninstalled.
That makes it hard to discuss, for example, 12,1N, since I
haven't been playing very long, so I decided to reinstall.
And, _no_, I _really_ wasn't gonna play at work. So much
for that Greek guy. That having been said....), but I have
to confess, I didn't do that uninstall thing but rather
that "kill it with explorer" thing, and when I tried to
reinstall, it didn't work. I keep getting the "failed to
init fonts lib" error when I try to play, err, start, DROD.
Of course, windows (r), so I first tried to reboot, no luck,
uninstall, reinstall, reboot, still no luck. Any eyedeers?

DROD still might show up in the Add/Remove Programs dialog, which you should be able to get to from the Start menu. If not, then you probably need to delete an entry from the registry. Someone else will have to help with that; I don't know what you need to do, and it's pretty dangerous to just delete things for no reason. If you have some kind of registry cleaning program (and there are some free ones floating around on the Net), that might also work, although I can't guarantee it.

Thanks for the tip, Onei. There is no entry for
DROD in Add/Remove, and regedit shows an entry
in the registry, but the only thing there is
"InstallLocation", and the path is correct, so
I'm still stuck.

Well, that might be the thing to delete, because the new installation thinks that there already is one there. But I do not want you to change your registry at all without Erik, Mike, Matt, or someone else who knows what's going on saying it's okay. If they don't respond to this post, try e-mailing one of them or send what's going on to bugs@drod.net (if that e-mail is still active).

However, it could be another problem, so actually it is best to wait for one of them to respond. Or even post in the Bugs forum asking for help there.

Well, I did a re-uninstall, and sure enough, there was still an entry in the registry. When I deleted that and reinstalled, DROD worked again. Thanks for the tip, Onei-- don't know why I didn't think of that myself.

Well, I'm glad it worked...I've heard enough horror stories about registry modifying that I'm glad nothing bad happened. I guess I should have just told you to make a backup and go for it instead of being so protective.
