Oh thank you all you are very kind. I was mostly ignoring it you know (although I think I won't ignore next year's ).

Vike91 - that is an amazing pressie. I've never seen the like! Perhaps I should buy one when the money from my house sale comes in?

Martz and rman - my gratitude to you both.

Panther - not exactly "grand" - my elderly aunt left this morning so I had the bed to change and the sheets to wash and the towels and .... you get the idea, but as I said somewhere else, mostly I ignore birthdays now. I'm very happy to pretend you are toasting - they could be bottles of Cava ... maybe?

slim tom, thank you so much for reviving this thread with such a kind and touching message. (I have been away from home for the last week, visiting an elderly relative and even older friend and neither of them have an internet connection so I've only just found this.) At my age one tends to ignore birthdays, but such kind greetings are heart-warming.
