Try to come out with as many game cliches as you can. Quality over quanitity.

1. Venomous creatures are immune to poisons.

I think the apollo list just about covers it, at least as far as CRPGs go.

Although I'll point out that the "Yuna Rule" (number 11) could also be called "Mega Man Rule," "Samus Aran Rule," "Link Rule," etc.

Actually, with a few exceptions, it's never the same Link. Samus usually manages to lose her abilities, giving her a slightly better excuse. I'm not really versed in this particular series, but I think that many Megaman games do have different robots... although the Battle Network series for sure is a prime example of this rule.

The sequence where you lose all your stuff and are put in a trash compactor or similar thing to escape, and/or saved by a convenient explosion or crashing vehicle. At least Samus has the grace to have it happen right at the beginning (of her visit to EVERY bloomin' planet ever...)

The fact that money or random valuable items are always hidden in jars, vases, or other random containers (or indeed anything that isn't a container, such as a couch or a table or a tree).

DROD has done this one better. "Smitemastery 101" has Beethro's training facility raided before the training is even finished.

DROD has done this one better. "Smitemastery 101" has Beethro's training facility raided before the training is even finished.

Heh. I gather "Elder Scrolls-Battlespire" went even further: the training facility's already been taken over when you arrive.

There's around six or seven different Megaman series, each with its own batch of robots. In all of them, the Megaman character loses most of his powerups between games.

Yep, that's the case.

There's an interesting twist on this in "Batman Begins." Upon reaching the last test, you decide to flunk out and destroy the training facility yourself!
