Hello everyone. I have created a new style from scratch, using only my wits and whatever tools my image editor may provide.

Instructions for use:

First, copy the files to the Data/Bitmaps directory of your DROD directory. (~/drod-tcb, /usr/local/games/drod-tcb, C:\Program Files\DROD - The City Beneath, or the like). If you are using DROD 3.0, you can omit the UnderwaterTiles2.0.tim, if you are on DROD 2.0, you need to use UnderwaterTiles2.0.tim and then rename it to UnderwaterTiles.tim.

Then, open up your drod.ini (in ~/.caravel/drod-3_0 or the installation directory) file and make the following changes based on version

2.0:
Add the line "Style1=UnderwaterTiles" to the bottom of the Graphics section. This overrides Foundation. If you wish to override a different one, use Style2 or Style3 instead, but only if using the full version.

3.0:
If you wish to add it as a separate style, add ";Underwater" to the end of the "Style" entry in the Graphics section, and then add a line reading "Underwater=Underwater" to that section. If you wish to override another style (recommended for testing), add the "Underwater;" immediately between the equals sign and the right-hand style name on any line that reads "StyleName=StyleName".

Once you have done so, you should be able to see it in your game. In 3.0, you will see the City style, except with the walls, wall shadows, force arrows, and wall reflections being replaced by mine. In 2.0, you will see the same, except that rather than the City style, you will see the base of whichever style is overridden, and that there are no reflection tiles.

I would appreciate comments about tiles in the style, from what your overall impression is to "Secret wall X is really hard to see" or "When Y wall tiles, it hurts my eyes".

Currently, I'd appreciate if this version were not used for anything other than DROD. I will likely distribute under a CreativeCommons license when it's finished.

No, I can't, because of a bug. I will when I finish the files requisite for the DMF or when the patch to fix it comes out.

Unfortuantley I'm having issues with installing this mod into the game.

When I try to save over my drod.ini file an error occurs stating "Make sure that the path and filename are correct" then it goes back into the 'SaveAs' window, creating this frusterating cycle of no end.

I have Vista, so basically it asks 10 questions to confirm literally anything you're about to change/download.

Any suggestions?
Thanks

I believe that there was a thread somewhere about this. Windows Vista keeps a different copy of files like that for each user, so your drod.ini file is found somewhere else on your computer. It's confusing.

BUMP

I'd appreciate some feedback, because I have a good deal of spare time in the future, and I would like to make a full-fledged style. Also, I've got a few ideas for obstacles, and I'd like your feedback. Most of them I still need ideas for.

Rock 1: A generic similar-looking rock.
Rock 2: A different rock.
Plant 1: Some seaweed
Plant 2: More seaweed
Dwelling 1: ???
Dwelling 2: ???
Pile o' skulls 1: A bunch of coral
Pile o' skulls 2: More coral
Goblin Statue: ???
Empire Statue: ???
Desk: ???
Chairs: ???
Book on Pedestal: ???
Treasure chest: Need I say more?
Tombstone 1: ???
Tombstone 2: ???
Ubiquitous Crate: ???
Table: ???
Table w/ Runner: ???
Clockweight: ???
Hut: ???
Cauldron: ???
Bed: ???
Signpost: ???
Barrel: ???
Pipe: ???
Couch: ???
Washbasin: ???

Upon realizing I can, I exported a DMF. Here it is.

Once again, please don't use outside of DROD (yet). Feel free to make modifications or anything. The style is not unusable, it just doesn't have such awesome things as obstacles or alternate floors yet.

Are you using 3.0.2 or 3.1.0?
Because 3.0.0 will not accept it.

Okay, this version should work in 3.0. No guarantees given, though.

I am not responsible for any damage this file causes.

Do we have to sign a acknowledgment of risk agreement?

Okay, are you done with this style or should I wait to put it on the site?

Eh. Do what you want. I thought of a great way to do water for this style, but it will look horrible without the ability to make a water mosaic. Plus, the floor is difficult to look at when it tiles a whole room. I guess that makes this my second DROD New Year's Resolution. So I'd hold it back so as not to destroy people's precious eyesight.
