Underwater Style - Version: 0.3b - works in 3.0 or 2.0 [Updated 27/04/07] (+3)
Hello everyone. I have created a new style from scratch, using only my wits and whatever tools my image editor may provide.
Instructions for use:
First, copy the files to the Data/Bitmaps directory of your DROD directory. (~/drod-tcb, /usr/local/games/drod-tcb, C:\Program Files\DROD - The City Beneath, or the like). If you are using DROD 3.0, you can omit the UnderwaterTiles2.0.tim, if you are on DROD 2.0, you need to use UnderwaterTiles2.0.tim and then rename it to UnderwaterTiles.tim.
Then, open up your drod.ini (in ~/.caravel/drod-3_0 or the installation directory) file and make the following changes based on version
2.0:
Add the line "Style1=UnderwaterTiles" to the bottom of the Graphics section. This overrides Foundation. If you wish to override a different one, use Style2 or Style3 instead, but only if using the full version.
3.0:
If you wish to add it as a separate style, add ";Underwater" to the end of the "Style" entry in the Graphics section, and then add a line reading "Underwater=Underwater" to that section. If you wish to override another style (recommended for testing), add the "Underwater;" immediately between the equals sign and the right-hand style name on any line that reads "StyleName=StyleName".
Once you have done so, you should be able to see it in your game. In 3.0, you will see the City style, except with the walls, wall shadows, force arrows, and wall reflections being replaced by mine. In 2.0, you will see the same, except that rather than the City style, you will see the base of whichever style is overridden, and that there are no reflection tiles.
I would appreciate comments about tiles in the style, from what your overall impression is to "Secret wall X is really hard to see" or "When Y wall tiles, it hurts my eyes".
Currently, I'd appreciate if this version were not used for anything other than DROD. I will likely distribute under a CreativeCommons license when it's finished.
