Page 184: Beethro takes it in a bit of a different direction
Beethro looked cautiously out into the factory. It was swarming with goblins and supergoblins waving at the cranes, herding PART boxes, or just moving about with determined faces. If he decided to go for it, and was detected, he would be dead in an instant. There was just too many of them.
Suddenly, Beethro heard the sound of the giant crane coming back. There was no more time. If he didn't decide what to do right away, he would have no choice but to stay in this mystery dungeon and see what happened. He didn't want to do that, he realized. The room appeared to be finished, but for all he knew, there was nothing that kept that mysterious sword from reappearing at any moment and reorder the room around him. It would be like moving around in an ever-changing maze.
Right then. Better to make a run for it and at least have a chance of hacking a way out. Beethro took a deep breath and started running, just as another room was dropped into place in front of him, with a pit right under his nose. Because of his speed, he didn't manage to stop in time. He was falling.
How could there be a bottomless pit in a spot where there was a perfectly normal floor tile just seconds before ? There was something very weird going on here, and Beethro didn't like it one bit.
He looked down. Blackness sped up towards him. There was no telling how deep this pit was. Remembering a trick one of his uncles taught him when he was a little boy, he grabbed a little stone that just happened to be in his pocket and let it go. It floated happily in the air beside him as they both fell with increasing speed.
Beethro cursed.
It was completely dark now. He tried poking the walls speeding up around him with his sword, and sparks flew. His hair caught fire. That lit up things a bit, so he could see the walls around him.
There wasn't too much space between him and the walls. The pit seemed to be about 3 times as wide as him, with him and that little stone speeding down the middle. Also, there seemed to be a strange, repeating pattern on the walls. What could it be ?
