Here's a not so easy challenge.

C h a l l e n g e !
The City Beneath: The Uncturage: Thrice East

Drop all the trapdoors, clear the room and exit on the east.
For an easier variant, remove the east exiting variant.

Just for future reference - I took it for granted that you wanted me to both drop the trapdoors and clear the room in the process, but you should specify that sort of thing in your challenge.

Does anybody knw if there's a way to speed the demo up so that the moves appear uniform, like in the small version that plays in the lower-right corner of the demo menu screen?

Iirc, pressing F7 while playing back a demo does this. Alternately, press the up+down arrows to speed up and slow down playback. Or hold right/left to step forward/back quickly.

Holding the spacebar plays the moves at a good, constant, fast rate.

Hah! Now try exiting east.
That's harder. Just managed it myself.

Want to put up your demo, Insane? Or did you do it in more or less the same way?

F7 doesn't do this for me, and holding right makes it go so fast that I can't tell what's going on. Coppro's suggestion about the space bar works well enough.

Thanks (and mod points) to both of you.

F7 just displays a current move count in the top left corner. And you're not supposed to hold the right arrow - that will make it go very fast - but rather press it once. Pressing the right (or left) stops the playback of the demo and allows you to step forward and backward with the right and left arrows respectively. Perhaps the up and down arrows are what you are looking for - they speed up and slow down the playback with each press (to a maximum and minimum, of course).

I don't just want the moves to come faster. I want a uniform delay between moves. It looks so much more badass than when Beethro just stops and starts again.

That's because the player stopped there.

I know that. The point is that it looks much cooler when Beethro moves at a constant, brisk pace. It makes a demo more fun to watch, because it makes Beethro seem more - like I said - badass. He's supposed to be one of the best, and the best are supposed to make it look easy even if it really isn't. Watching him stand there and look unsure of himself spoils it for me.

You can press the right arrow at a constant rate.

Some demos are hundreds - if not thousands - of moves long. I'm not going to bang a key that many times each time I watch a demo. Besides, the demo would only run smoothly if my timing was consistantly perfect.

Holding the space bar works, and it turns out that I can even adjust the speed with the up and down keys.

Sorry, I didn't mean F7 -- I meant 7 on the numeric keypad. That will make moves come uniformly fast, like on the miniroom preview.

This is getting waaaay off topic, but is there anyway to slow down the mini-room demo (cool idea, btw). I find it pretty much uselessly interesting (know what I mean?) Also, adding play controls to that window would be a cool, useful new feature.
