I deleted the new beta of my hold because I accidentally pressed Delete Hold instead of export. I made 20 new rooms and all gone. What about putting " Are you sure you want to delete this hold? ", "Really?" message boxes after pressing Delete Hold?

Even better, have one type in "DELETE" to delete it.
Shouldn't this be in Feature Requests?

'Are you sure you want to delete this hold?'

'Really?'

'And truly?'

'For seriously?'

'O RLY?'

'NO WAI, RLY?'

'OMGWTF u liar!'

'Oh, you're serious?'

'Oh, okay, deleting hold now.'

Mm. I think one warning's good enough, really.

One warning with a difficult to bypass accidentally confirmation.

So, the message that is already there ("This hold and all its levels will be permanently deleted! All players' saved games and demos for this hold will also be deleted. Are you sure you want to remove it?") wasn't enough for you, then?

I personally think that's enough, but then again, I usually read those types of dialogs before dismissing them without thinking.

Edit: What could be done, however, is to move the default button selection to "No" instead of "Yes".

Or make you type in a word to confirm.

Or it might be nice to just bold and highlight a couple of key words.
"This HOLD and all of its levels will be permanently DELETED!"

I thought of pressing export and then the appearing save folder so I pressed delete hold + space. The best idea so far is that one of typing "DELETE".

I got that idea from World of Warcraft. When you delete a Legendary item/Gm item you have to type it in too.

Edit: Wohoo! Just after going back to the index after writing this I got 10 mods points and 3 rank points form the bar :D. Rejoice!

Shameless Debian developers, ripping off World of WarCraft. How could they?!

I thought something similar to this had been added by Mike in a recent patch - or am I going completely crazy?

Nah, the problem here is not:
"I want X confirmations before deleting hold"
but rather:
"I want more confirmations before deleting MY hold"
right?

So when you try to delete your hold:
"You are going to delete YOUR hold, are you really sure?"

And then one checkbox "I do want to delete {Hold Name}"
and a button Delete, which only works if checkbox is checked.
And then Cancel.

I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to implement, eh?

if I were implementing this, it would work like this:
when you are looking at the hold list, you can check holds as "protected" (or uncheck them to make them unprotected).
when you make a hold, it activates the "protected" checkbox automatically.

when you attempt to delete a "protected" hold, it says "please unprotect the hold before deleting".

@silver: That's a very good idea. Second best is probably requiring a checkbox in the confirmation box, at least for your own holds.

It's easy to say, don't be stupid and actually read the dialog boxes, but much of our computing experience conditions us to just click OK to everything that pops up.

And I think we need something similar to this for levels, as well. Because I'm sick of deleting levels when I mean to delete rooms.

We probably can't adapt silver's idea to this (unless there were properties for levels), but Skell's idea would be nice for that.
But if there was something like this for both rooms and levels, then, once again, we wouldn't be able to distinguish before the time we delete the wrong thing, so I guess no checkbox would be there if you want to delete a room.

Any suggestions for delete level/delete room?

I also like the idea of a bit extra-security.
