In level 4, room 1N:

Complete the room without re-entering the starting passage (the one that is three squares wide) until you have killed all the roaches.

This is actually how I completed it the first time. It was only later that I realised there was an easier method.

*Jaw smashes onto the floor*

That challenge you describe is the way I\'ve ALWAYS cleared this room... I never realized how much easier the room was. Damn, I feel dumb today. Whenever someone asks me for hints on that room (which happens to be a lot, this room stumps a lot of people), I gave them instructions leading to a solution which is just like your challenge.

Heh.

Heh! I\'m not senile.

(backstory for those who haven\'t heard me mention it elsewhere: I played and won webfoot DROD about 3 years ago, and haven\'t played DROD again until Caravel DROD was released) When I reached this room in Caravel DROD, I remembered spending a lot of time, um, trying to do something that I can\'t describe without partially spoiling the challange. But, after solving it in using the corridor, I couldn\'t figure out why I had to do that - So I decided I must have misremembered.

Now that I saw this thread, though, I went to the room and played it again - and found the solution; which involves exactly the movement I had remembered.

I\'m with Clayton on this one. I did it the hard way every time. At least I know theres an easy way now

Wow all you guys who\'ve always done it the hard way must be a bunch of masochists. I mean, for God\'s sake, this is level 4 we\'re talking about! Maybe if it were on a later level that room would have force arrows not allowing you to reenter the starting passage (idea for a future update?), but that early in the game there\'s always an easier way.

Okay, give me a hint: what is the first step to take out of the 3-space passage and what direction should my sword face?

Finally got it. Man, the first way just seems so much more obvious. It amazes me that Clayton would come up with this tricky way of doing it first.

The second clone is just to throw you off, making you think that you need it.
