I've been stuck in this room for a couple of months now . . . perhaps long enough. I have a dilemma - either

1) dispose of the guards first. While I remain alive the room fills up with mud and cannot be completed, or
2) try to go after the mud mothers first, which since there's so many guards, this doesn't work either.

I've found the best starting point to be the lower right. What's the secret to success here, beyond that?
