In my mind the best puzzle games in heirarchical order...

1. Deadly Rooms of Deadth: JtrH. I'm not just saying that because I'm posting this here. I believe it's the best puzzle game. I don't think I have to say why either.

2. Super Puzzle Fighter 2: Turbo (PC/PS1)

Amazingly simple, beautifully deep. The greastest versus puzzle game out there.

I feel odd owning 3 different versions of this game, but it won't work on my PC anymore, so...

3. Tetris Attack (SNES)

Unlike other Tetris clones this is very different and I don't think many people got the opportunity to play it either. Blocks are on screen and you have to match up 3 or more in a line. But you can only swap the blocks between two. Yes, I believe it's something like Bejeweled but it's good (I don't like Bejeweled - contrived) You can perform set up combos because you can move any blocks across to match up sets, also you can move blocks into the spaces they leave behind to increase the combo, or if you are really fast you can switch multiple blocks to extend combos (the blocks freeze very temporarily when you start a 2 combo or more, so you are able to do this). I like it a lot.

4. Tetris DS

The best version of Tetris out there. Some of the new versus modes are awesome.

Other games I'm not too sure about. I get a brain freeze and I don't quite remember games as well as I used to. I think of games such as Adventure of Lolo, Lemmings, and there are other games which I haven't played very much such as Fish Fillets (why is it so hard?!?!), and I like Dungeon Scroll Gold as well, nearly forgot that one...

Could we agree to what are the 10 best puzzle games? I'm not sure about Tetris Attack really thinking about it...

I do have to say the Myst Series are great.
I especially loved Riven (Myst II) and Myst IV.
I never had any desire to play Myst V. I played the demo and found that it just had too different of a feel to it, so I never bought it. The original Myst is ok, but I got sick of it. Myst III was fun in the way of eye-candy, however, it was probably the easiest of the entire series.

In the arcade puzzler sub-category (ie Tetris etc), I really enjoyed a game called Wetrix. I had it on the Dreamcast (now defunct), but you could get versions for Playstation and PC (possibly others). I never really got a good chance to try the multiplayer mode since the wife is not very fond of that style of games, but I thought the 1 player mode had a lot more depth and strategy than any other Tetris-like game I've played.

I'll second the Super-Puzzle-Fighter. I haven't played SPF very much, but I used to play Puzzle Pirates, and the main versus game there is a version of SPF. Speaking of Puzzle Pirates, I really enjoyed the carpentry puzzle.

Ah, Wetrix. I had that on N64 (remember those days...) a whole lot of games are flooding back...

Fish Fillets for sure. I have enjoyed Sherlock, Watson's Map, and Baker Street from Everett Kaser (but only bought Watson's Map). I'm also fond of the games by Kris Pixton, PathPix, PrismaPix, LOOPical, and (in beta) PairABox. (I own the first 3 but the third was from beta-testing so it was free.)

And I'll move this to Electronic Games now.

Heaven & Earth, a collection of 14 games, mostly puzzles, is one of my favorites. It's a DOS game, but runs in WinXP quite well.

I do like TIM. It's quite enjoyable. Another good one is Marble Drop.

Oh, and NetHack, ADOM, Angband, and Crawl (They're kind of like DROD. The puzzle is not to die.)

Chip's Challenge was good and it runs under XP. (I still have an original, copied via floppy from a 3.1)

Any good logic puzzle I enjoy too, although it's not necessarily actually a puzzle game. You know, 4 Colors, Minesweeper, Net, Bridges.

I was about to mention Minesweeper, but coppro beat me to it. The Smart Games series was pretty good as well--I think Butterflies (collection 3) is the best of the bunch.

Definitely DROD, Lode Runner (although I'd say the best iteration thereof is probably not the first...Lode Runner Online, maybe? Or Mad Monk's Revenge?), TIM. Can't really speak as to much else...one of the reasons I took so long to get into DROD is that I am not a puzzle gamer. Not really. DROD is just about the only game in the category that's ever genuinely clicked for me.

However, I will suggest that N ( http://www.harveycartel.org/metanet/n.html) is probably up there. And I'm growing rather fond of Eets ( http://www.eetsgame.com/news/index.php), which Caravel had arranged to sell for a while, but since Eets no longer features on the main site that I can see, something must have happened to that. Perhaps the move to Steam distribution.

Hm. I'd have to say DROD (obviously), Wonderquest (though it will be even better when googa releases that editor and people are able to make new quests for it *hint hint*), Wetrix (I enjoyed my N64 days... I guess it did help that I tried to avoid the clunkers), The Incredible Machine, and Lemmings. Haven't played a lot of other puzzle games, though, and they're not usually my kind of game...

Thank you thank you!!! Yes, I have played that game in my childhood but my memory isn't that great I can't remember everything. That game is very very good.

Me any my friends thought the game was kind of perverted as your goal was to get to, what seems, your girlfriend's house. And in doing so a weird sound, "ppwoooaaaarrrhhh!!" sounds. Hilarious.

Tetris 2 was good too. In fact, I'd say it was the first action puzzler I came across. If you haven't played it, think Dr. Mario with germs that can get rid of all germs of the same color.
