Whaz your screen rez?
640x480 (chuck that clunker in the basement!)
800x600 (the lowest you can go on today's desktops, but still perfectly okay)
1024x768 (the "average" resolution)
1152x864 (whoah, getting a little extreme there)
1280x960 or above (you're insane!)

Just wondering how most of you see the forums. Since the text and tables dynamically resize to fit your window size and screen res, everyone sees the forums differently.

BTW, if you're all the way up to 1600x1200, I sure hope you have a 30-inch computer screen 'cause you're gonna need a microscope to see your mouse cursor.

[[[ This poll was inspired by my friend Sam, who does random polls on a regular basis at school (usually during lunch period or on the bus), all having interesting results. I remember in particular the "Favorite Donuts" poll, where he didn't realize until I pointed it out to him that he had separate categories for "chocolate frosted" and "chocolate frosting". He promptly combined them (chocolate frosted came in second place). ]]]

Guilty of 1600x1200. Just a 21" monitor, but... if you use Visual C++ or Dreamweaver, you can sure use the space!

I use 1024x768 (at 85Hz), with 4 virtual desktops. I can use 1152x864 without things getting too small, but then the refresh rate drops too low for my eyes to like it.

1600 x 1200 is fine for me at 21" (great for LAN parties ;) ) I'm not a programmer, but I'm always doing about 10 things at the same time (virtual desktops just confuse me) And art stuff benefits from the increased workspace. I'm seriously thinking about getting a second monitor, but it's an expensive proposition since I'd need two LCDs to replace my current CRT, and anyway, it's a good monitor.

Sure do wish DROD could do a double sized tile thing though (hmmm, high definition art :) ) since it has to be played fullscreen at 1600x1200.

I use 1280x1024 at 85Hz refresh rate. That looks fine.
Normally i use 4 virtual Desktops, but since my graphics card broke down, everything has changed for me.

I use a laptop, and apparently this thing is optimized at 1280x1050. I don't mind it though, because I'm used to 1280x1024.

Thats because LCD screens have fixed size pixels as opposed to a CRT. I've always run 1024 x 768 on a 17 inch screen. Got video cards that will do better but when I tried 1280 x 1024 I couldn't read anything.

Well, wait, I have a laptop too, but I can run it in 800x600 or 1024x768. Why isn't it fixed?

Game on,

After reading this poll, I realized my eyes were killing me at 1280x1024, so I dropped it down a notch. All these dev tools fill up my screen space too quickly.

Now, what I could really use is that nifty desk from Tron, but inclined at a 30 degree angle like a drawing table. I think that would be ideal.

Currently, the majority of you appear to be insane. How do you even see your mouse cursor at those high resolutions? 1024x768 should be big enough for anyone. I have no idea why some people like to have EVERYTHING on the screen at once, even if it means the text is so tiny you can't even see it. You can minimize and stack windows for a reason. ;)

:)

This is probably the only thing where i'm not part of the "insane" group, as the world views such things.

But then, normal is boring.

You want to hear crazy? My rig can do 2048x1536 - now that makes things even too small for me!!

1024x768 is the native size of your screen, so that's how many pixels you're always seeing, but it uses some nifty tricks to make it appear to be in 800x600 mode. My laptop is 1600x1200, but can do pretty much any normal resolution, and still look pretty good.

I can set 1280x1024. But I set 1024x768 and a good refresh.

Sweet Jeebus!

I'm running 1024x768, but as soon as I can I'm going to get a 24" monitor running 1600x1200 for business purposes (graphical editing and sine waves and such).
