So just now I noticed the Contests folder turned red, and noted the name of the user who has made the "Latest Post" (as listed on the main forum page) in the Contests board. Then, after going to the Contests board, the only folder that was red was the Beauty Over Brains submission topic. Also, this person I noted did not have the most recent post in any of the other threads on that board (or at least any of them on the first page). Therefore, it seems to me that it was telling me that this person posted in the Submission Topic (which I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to do...).

Could be, but it may well be the submission topic. There are plenty of flaws in the way submission topics work.
