Beethro's Generic Quest : The Quest Begins : 2 South, 2 East (0)

I've been stuck on this for a couple of days. How do I kill the last serpent? The last one, assuming I've gone about it the right way, being the one to the south. I always end up with the roach in the small passage in the middle.
