I visited Jay is Games this evening, as I often do, only to see the following greet me on the front page:

Looks like it's a 'sponsored review', which means they like it but Caravel paid them to run it.

In any case, everyone likes Jay is Games, and it's a pretty good writeup.

That doesn't mean that Caravel paid them to run it; rather it means that they get a percentage of the profit of every game someone buys following their link.

I'm not even sure if their deal is directly with Caravel or just with the reseller in question (Arcadetown).

Hi folks,

We have a partnering relationship with ArcadeTown so that we can earn a commission from some of the games we choose to review, of which DROD is one of them.

I call them "sponsored" reviews so that visitors are aware of the potential to help us out with a purchase of the game, since most of the other games we review are free Web-based games that don't generate any sizable revenue at all.

Hopefully that answers any questions you may have had about it, and thanks very much for your visits. =)

Aah, thanks for setting me straight there, Jay. I haven't been keeping tabs on Erik's marketing since I left the team, and I'm glad to see it's a affiliate program instead of something more insidious (but your site is awesome anyway, so it's all good.)

Dodged a bullet there.
