I found a way to avoid playing DROD for awhile . . . . basically, be victimized by a hard drive crash.

I'm sure there are better ways to take a break, but I do have a few questions about my options once I refurbish and reload the system.

1) I assume the nice CaravelNet folks have mechanisms for recognizing me as a paid-up subscriber and that re-downloading JTRH will not be a problem.
2) Is it possible to resume my player status from where I stopped? Or, phrased another way, is hold progress uploadable from CaravelNet?
3) Is it safe to say that my AE status - KDD and a few others - is permanently gone?

Thanks, and see you on the other side -

You can redownload JtRH from the downloads page at drod.caravelgames.com, assuming you are logged in.

Unfortunately unless you have the .dat files from DROD or your player backed up, you will have lost your progress (although not high scores, if that's any comfort...). I sympathise - the only thing you can do is ask if someone is willing to provide a copy of their progress for you. I'm quite happy to do that if you like, although I've not really completed anything notable except JtRH itself (I've yet to finish any SmS, for example.)

Being able to restore progress from CaravelNet has been asked a few times before - I can't remember what the official response was though.

Yeah, I think it'd be great if CNet would keep more player info instead of just high scores. I'm not really sure what all I'm asking for them to keep. Maybe demos, hold progress (ie. save pts), holds being constructed, my investments, ..

IIRC, the official response for using Caravelnet demos to reconstruct your progress was "we'd like to add it someday but only after TCB is released".

Boy, did I luck out. I was actually able to recover everything. Kinda a weird HDD crash, if you ask me.

{Backs up DROD stuff immediately}

Ehm...where? :unsure

I just re-newed my CaravelNet account (or at least, that's what I was trying to do...got a bit suspicious afterwards as I was never asked for an account name. Is the account tied to the e-mail address?) and I still only get the download page with the demo. I know I'm probably not looking hard enough, but that's just because I don't know where to look :look

When you renew CaravelNet, you should get an email with a link to activate CaravelNet, which will then tie it to your account. Check your junk mail just in case, and if you can't find it, then PM me your order number and I'll send you an activation link.

Of course, there it is. :thumbsup

I was tricked by the fact that the receipt from the online store cleared my spam filter, but the activation link from caravelgames didn't.

Downloading JtRH as we speak, all progress lost, but I don't mind that much. Haven't played any of the Smitemaster's Selections yet, can hardly wait to try them. Expect me back in the top 100 by next week. ;)

And what an ultra-fast response from Schik, thanks a lot.
