A brand new adventure for Beethro, not a KDD sequel, but a new 5 level's story, not so difficult, for relax times... My first hold... in italian, including english intros to levels...

So, I've played through four levels so far - this is a promising first hold. It's well put-together, with decent checkpoint use, rooms that feel like they were thought out rather than just a random collection of elements, and a nice difficulty curve (which goes from very easy to moderate). I like the bilingual scrolls and level introductions. So yeah, a lot of rooms are hack and slash or just run-around-obstacles and kill stuff, but that just makes for a nice hold for beginners.

Alright, conquered.

I liked how you introduced the elements gradually and ramped up from easy hack and slash to some more difficult hordes and manipulation. However, I only have one gripe...

You introduced tar on level 2, (when the tar level is on level 4) and tar mazes with it. I'm glad I had transparent tar.

Other than that, I really like this, and think it makes a nice, easy beginner hold. :)

Thanks for comments. :) I'm working now on my 2nd hold, I wish more difficult than this "debut"... and a more complex "story" as background (so I'm writing it in english!).
My think is which a game need to offer relax and fun, above all, not a "mind collapse" :rolleyes .

You are right! :yes But my hold has not a "owner" monster on each level... You have to see them as "guests" in previous levels than where they are announced.
My next hold will not have a "sequence" of monster, they will be mixed room by room: the subject of the next hold will not be the monster, but the places where Beethro will moves within! ;)

Well, that was... interesting.

Tahnan was talking about getting highscores in chat, and since I had never heard of this hold before, I decided to pick it up and give it a try.

The puzzles are pretty good. Nothing jaw-dropping, but a fine beginner hold for AE. Many rooms had bad checkpoint placing, which detracted from the score.

What I found to be the best part of the hold was the Italian scrolls, which were very fun to translate.

So,
6 for fun
3.5 for brains
50/100 approval rating.

And: finished with my replay. It's better than I might have expected for a hold that didn't seem to make any impression on me at all the first time I played it (other holds that I haven't played since 2006 have at least looked familiar).

So, yeah, not bad. Plus, I dare say it's the only thing on the Holds board that contains a tribute to an Italian porn star (making it, simultaneously, the tribute to an Italian porn star least likely to ever be seen by its honoree).

Silvio Berlusconi?

(I do assume that the prime minister thing is just a facade...)

np: Pangea - Coiled (Round Black Ghosts)

Sorry, mea culpa. The hold is Italian, the porn star is German. I'd recommend against Googling her name.

Nadine Jansen is a German softcore model, not a pornstar. :rolleyes
So I don't think Silvio Berlusconi may be interested to her. :P

Thanks for playing my first hold, take a look in my site to get more newest holds! ;)

Although there were some interesting rooms and it's better done than some holds, I didn't really enjoy this. Too many rooms were wide-open ones. Goblins galore, a lack of checkpoints, and *shudder* way, WAY too many obstacles under tar. It is architects who do things like that which make me think I should indeed install a transparent tar mod (if only they looked better).

As a side note, the styles look much better under the 4.0 engine than the 3.0.

Sorry but I didn't like this one, there was not a real architect planning behind it, just some monsters thrown there. It may be good for starters anyway.

Well, this is a rather nice AE hold. The biggest problems are the lack of checkpoints in places and the placing of objects underneath tar. Fortunately for the architect, the latter is not so bad anymore, with Tarstuff Alpha available in GATEB. Therefore, you could actually say that this hold got better with time! :)

As for the positives, it was a fun, easy romp. It felt like there was quite a bit of variety in rooms from start to finish, and the difficulty curve was good. It started a little easier and then got a bit harder later on.

There's nothing mind-blowing that hasn't been seen before in other holds here, but as a whole it was pretty darn great. I give this hold 7 Overall and 4 Brains, though if playing in AE/without tar transparency, it should be a bit harder and a little less fun.
