Heh? Was this FSR?

I've played (and finished) the DS version, but these screenshots look completely different.

Been a bit busy lately.

Since every level looks the same I guess I can hopefully leave it with one screenshot. If no one can guess this I will probably show a new game some days later.

Yeah, it's pretty much a game that you either know or you don't. But the goal in this game is so ridiculous that just needs a mention.

(I mean, a turn based puzzle game where you have to kill roaches? Who'd think of that?!)

No one? Okay, that game was called Stop That Roach!
I'll see if I want to write a piece of text about it, but it's a pretty good puzzle game if you can find it.

Let's do a pretty new game for the next screenshot:

Ranger is good enough for me. I've played all of them and I still can't recognise that logo. :(

No takers?

Additional hint: This game is part of a series that started as a game on the MSX computer.

Okay, here's a list of all the enemies in this well-known puzzle game (at least if you're over 20, hopefully). Nowadays it's probably called a "sokoban clone" though, just because you can push things in the game.

Another hint: My avatar happens to look like the main character in the game (purely coincidence though).

Never played it before but after a lot of Googling... is it one of the Adventures of Lolo games? (Wikipedia says it started as Eggerland.) Couldn't say which one, but I'd guess it's a Game Boy version judging by the size of the screenshots.

Correct!

This game is the English GBC version, and is simply called "Adventures of Lolo".

Just for the rest of you, the Eggerland series have been somewhat influential to puzzle gaming. If you can't find any copies of Lolo you can try the recently released flash game called "Cube Droid Saves the Galaxy". It's a bit sad that people are now calling them "sokoban type games" though.

It's your turn to post a screenshot now, I'll give you another mod point after you do that.

Whoops, sorry. Here's the game I've been playing incredibly slowly for the last week or two (not my own screenshot, obviously). Big screenshot so it's in secret tags.

It's Drawn: The Painted Tower, isn't it?

I'll get it when it hits the bargain bin.

I want to say Dragon Warrior (or is it Dragon Quest now?) but I think they are on 9 or 10, not 3. I don't recognize those "max" item icons in the lower left.

There are more than three games in the series, this is just a remake of the third. The series is on its seventh numbered entry right now, but there is also a prequel and an MMO, not to mention the fact that the first two games in the series have been remade no less than four times.

Only the second screenshot is from the PSP port, the first and third are from the original PC version.

Any yes, it is an Ys game.

Considering how trivial it would be to simply look up what the Ys III remake would be called I'm giving it to you Penumbra.

The game is Ys: Oath in Felghana, a remake of Ys III: Wanderers from Ys that kept the plot and a good chunk of the level design (odd considering Ys III was a sidescroller) but totally recrafted the presentation and boss fights and ran on a modified Ys VI engine. Like Ys IV, VI and Complete it was not initially localized but received a fan translation thanks to the Ys Utopia (note, this link contains extremely strong language), but an almost complete donation-only beta patch was leaked online causing the lead translator to decide to abandon two years of hard work in favor of another four years of furious rants against the fanbase and eventually even modified the setup to actively insult the user. Despite this massive falling out, XSEED decided to localize the game and licensed the translation four years later for release on the PSP (and did their own localizations for the PSP remakes of the first two and for Ys SEVEN).

So the game has a bit of a storied history to it, but it's really a fantastic game. The prequel is getting an English patch very soon as well, although it is being handled by the generally more friendly Italian group I Figli di Gaucci.
