Considering how trivial it would be to simply look up what the Ys III remake would be called I'm giving it to you Penumbra.
The game is Ys: Oath in Felghana, a remake of Ys III: Wanderers from Ys that kept the plot and a good chunk of the level design (odd considering Ys III was a sidescroller) but totally recrafted the presentation and boss fights and ran on a modified Ys VI engine. Like Ys IV, VI and Complete it was not initially localized but received a fan translation thanks to
the Ys Utopia (note, this link contains extremely strong language), but an almost complete donation-only beta patch was leaked online causing the lead translator to decide to abandon two years of hard work in favor of another four years of furious rants against the fanbase and eventually even modified the setup to actively insult the user. Despite this massive falling out, XSEED decided to localize the game and licensed the translation four years later for release on the PSP (and did their own localizations for the PSP remakes of the first two and for Ys SEVEN).

So the game has a bit of a storied history to it, but it's really a fantastic game. The prequel is getting an English patch very soon as well, although it is being handled by the generally more friendly Italian group I Figli di Gaucci.
