If you order the high scores by #1s, and click on succesive pages, you don't get any rows for players with none (page 4 onwards).
Looks like you need a "or is null" statement... either that or default the column to 0 in the db. At this point I'm assuming you're using mySQL 4 (5?). I'd recommend using postgres as the indexing is a *lot* faster. In fact, if you're running v4, indexing is *very* poor (non-existant?) which could explain the general overloading... Wanna avoid those full table scans :)
