I don't remember my solution well enough to say "go after queen x". However, in a room like this, the problem is usually that you have roaches coming at you from more than one direction. If you can eliminate the threat from one of those directions quickly, the whole room starts to loosen up a little bit. I would suggest looking at where the roaches are coming from and trying to eliminate the smaller side first.

The way I treat puzzles such as this room is to make the most use out of the little time I have between spawns... first I determine the largest window (number of moves) I have where I am not attacked by roaches. Then I determine how far I can get in that window...

This was indeed my approach, and finally tonight something clicked . . . sometimes is just a matter of Beethro's sword being in the other part of the cycle as you approach a roach string . . . on to more adventures.
