the room is no longer winnable from your position. you need to lead the roach through the first part a little more up close and personally.

Are we talking about the same roach here? The roach in the screenshot attached by Birkoff is not standing on an arrow, and cannot be guided to the next arrow since the player is too far up.

Yeah, we're talking about the same roach. You can't see the arrow in Birkoff's screenshot, but it's there. Look at one of the pictures that Googa has attached, and look at the space where the roach is at in Birkoff's picture. In fact, the middle picture in Googa's last reply illustrates the exact sequence I was talking about to get the roach off of the first arrow, and on his way to the second. Also, if you look closely at Birkoff's screenshot, you'll realize that because of the stretch of path leading up to the first arrow where the path goes straight to the left without going up at the same time, there is no way that Birkoff could have possibly gotten to the position he was at if there was not an arrow underneath the roach.
