So, basically, could Gunthro and the Epic Blunder run the hold of The Second Sky and newer community holds? Or is The Second Sky the only entry in the series that can run all holds with full compatibility?

It depends.

If you are on Steam, TSS runs on itself, but all other official holds are run through GatEB. That version of GatEB can run TSS holds though, just not the official TSS hold.

On GOG they are all separate installs that use the engines the official hold came out on, so there's no forwards compatibility there.

I'm not actually sure what the CaravelNet versions run on, but I would guess that they are the same as the Steam versions, but someone else should probably confirm that.

Based on the downloads page, the CaravelNet version of Gunthro is on the DROD 4 engine so cannot run TSS-era holds.

I see, thanks. Should have made it clear that I'm running the GOG versions, but it's good to know the difference across game providing platforms. Thanks!
