If you go to the downloads page, you can download DROD and DROD RPG installers and patches. The current DROD RPG version obtainable via the downloads page is 1.2.7.316. However, it is possible to get a later 1.2.7.330 build via Steam, which contains addition bug fixes.

On the off chance anyone can do anything about this, it would nice to have the lastest build available from the Caravel Games site.

(It might also be the case that other vendors don't have the lastest version, but that's not really my problem to worry about)

It's a reason why I bought all games from Steam after I bought this games on this site. Steam games is much more better. Better graphics, lots of new challenges.

After you buy the stuff from Caravel, you also get the key for steam versions. Personally, I'm not a fan of steam myself.

But the update is certainly something that probably should be added to download page

Yes, build .330 is for Steam-only (iirc).

A new patch (or five) is currently in development, so stay tuned for forthcoming updates!
