I think you may have run into a bug. I just checked the whole sequence and in my experience "which is broken" riddle is asked by Loki, not wizard, and answered by Alviss. Though maybe if you free him correctly, he'll give you an answer.
You
are talking about Alviss when you say that, right? For a second there, I thought you meant "
if you free Loki correctly"
and I was like "
Free Loki?! Won't that start Ragnarok, the very thing we're trying to prevent?"
. xD
Although, it would be awesome in a game like this if you could actually decide to give up on the world and unleash Ragnarok upon it. I absolutely loved Loki in this game, I was genuinely moved by him.
Anyway, back to topic: I started a new game so I could avoid the mistakes I made in my first attempt, and it turns out that the riddle sequence changes. Aurvandel asked me a different starting riddle, the other NPCs can't answer riddles they knew in my previous playthrough, and they also give me different riddles. So I guess the riddle quest is randomized. For you, the "
What can be broken"
is asked by Loki, but I've had Hervor ask me that one (twice, actually!).
