I seem to be stuck in this level. I have following stats when starting level 7:

Do I need to optimize on Level 7 or Level 6 or should I begin from scratch?

Bomb? I never picked up or blowed up a bomb. The only item I used was an invisibility potion in order to kill the pirate captain. When I use the invis to get the pickaxe and then the portable orb, I'm not able to kill the captain. Did I miss an important secret room or do I need that portable orb to get the bomb?

You can use either the portable orb (but I wouldn't recommend that) or the wall walking (which I would recommend). Let me know if you want me to explicitly spoil where and how to get it.

I'm afraid, however, that I'm totally clueless as to how to kill the captain without using either the invisibility potion or the bomb, so someone else will have to help you out with that. :(
On a side note, I'd actually switched to using my current avatar before seeing yours, so I hadn't meant to simply copy your idea. (And here I was thinking I'd been original and clever.) :)

Sure thing. All you have to do is go to Rule 6 1N1E (a room with many seep) and go pick it up (along with some helpful ATK powerups) :)

Just optimize. Rule 6 is full of hot tiles, so bring as little health into it as possible and pick up more only on a need-to-use basis. You can always retrace your steps or load an earlier save to get more. Prioritizes weapons, shields and equipment then easy power gems then hard power gems, and remember that they only count for something if they make a relevant enemy take one less hit to go down.
