I've heard this one before, so I won't give it away just yet.. the 'it wasn't quick' bit is quite important ;)

What an odd choice of names--I also know a miser named Ursula.

I have no idea, but it reminds me of the man whose will specified that his three best friends each put $1000 of their own money into his coffin. The first man walked up to the coffin at the cemetery and put in ten $100 bills, and stepped back; the second did the same; and then the third walked up, took out the twenty bills, and put in a check for $3000.

OK, carry on. :-)

Buy shares in various companies with all the money. Bury the certificates with her, and then sell the stock. Thus, technically all the wealth (stock) was buried with her, but it was still possible to sell it, and give the money to them.

Eh, the answer I was looking for was a check. I actually groaned when Tahnan said the answer without knowing it, but your's is close enough. I'm going to watch this thread. I have a REALLY good puzzle to put down soon.

Simple, he literally buried the money with her, and then had her brothers family dig it up.

Goodness, really? The "it wasn't quick" made me think the check thing couldn't be right. (I suppose they had to wait six months for the check to expire, after which they said, "Well, OK, since she's not going to use it...")

But I've got a puzzle more or less handy, so. The following six words have a particular, rather unusual property in common. (If it helps--and it won't--MATTERHORN also has this property.)

PRETENDS ARGUED DESPAIR WITHDRAWING PEELS IGNOBLY

If you can figure out what that property is, you should have no trouble telling me what word I'm thinking of. What is it?

So I definitely don't get it, except for the fact that each letter from the word "DEADLY" appears in its corresponding word in the list exactly once...

"None of them have the letter Z" isn't an especially unusual property. Instead,

I admit I'm stumped--they seem to have a semantic connection (they're all abstract nouns), but I don't see the common thread beyond that; so perhaps the answer is based on letters or wordplay, but the few ideas I had didn't pan out.

Does HOODWINK not fit the category because it's not this at all, or because there's a particular aspect that those five have in common that Hoodwink lacks? (If it's the latter, I fear I'm never going to get it; I've exhausted my knowledge of the topic.)

Ohhh. I guessed "I bet they're all Magic cards"; and when he said "Hoodwink" was wrong, I only kind of vaguely glanced at the others. Clearly not enough to notice they were all green, never mind that they were all enchantments.

Well... Actually I think Tahan kind of got it before me, although I really should have understood this at first glance. Thus I pass on the right to post a puzzle to Tahan, and give him a rank point :) (+I don't really have a puzzle, although I guess I could try to come up with one if Tahahn doesn't want to)

Okay... I'll make a puzzle then. I have here reconstructed a picture I once saw, and ever since I saw it I have been fascinated by one (quite unique) thing about it. What?

(I know the picture isn't entierly accurate, but I think it's accurate enough that you should be able to guess how it ought to look. If not, please ask me.)

Well to state the obvious, its a square within a square, the latter being surrounded by 4 right angled triangles of the same size and proportions.
