The best thing would be if you bought it ;) I think the creators of DROD deserves all the support we are willing to give them.

That being said I don't see the point in deleting the game. As I see it nobody is going to benefit from that. Let's hear what someone with a bit more athoroty says, though.

Could you post the file size of the install file, and the name of the game collection disk?

Despite the fact that anyone trying to be mildly politically correct would suggest you delete it, it reeally would benefit no one. Keep it.

Basically if you bought the CD I guess you could play it because you payed for it.

But then the fall back for that is that your not paying the caravel team, your paying the people who put that game made by the caravel team.

I agree with Blondbeard let someone with a higher authority tell you what to do

This isn't about politics, etc. -- it's a legal (copyright) issue.

Of course, Caravel would like people to buy our games from a legal source.

Sorry, but paying for illegitimate items doesn't make using them any more legal...

Again, it's not a question if its legal. The best thing to do would be to buy the actual hold online, but deleting the game on the CD, illegal or not, benefits no one. The Caravel Team doesn't lose any money (and probably gains $20 from your purchase of TCB following your inevitable addiction) and no one is likely to really care enough to take action if you steal (and yes, this is stealing) the game. If it's the moral problems you're up against, go ahead and delete it, but remember it doesn't benefit a single person.

Ugh, I know I'm being pedantic and somewhat off topic, but this is a pet peeve of mine. This is not stealing (theft). It is copyright infringement (which is also illegal). And if you thought you were buying a legitimate copy then whoever you bought it from is guilty of fraud, which is another crime, but is also not theft.

Copyright infringement is no more stealing than slander is assault. They're both illegal, but they're different crimes and I think it contributes to the difficulty of knowing how to effectively address them to call them both the same thing. (Think if everyone who was slandered started saying "he assaulted my character" to the point where someone who was pummeled in public couldn't use the word assault to describe it because everyone would start thinking about mudslinging instead of battery when they said it.)

To bring it back on topic, the copy of software that was fraudulently sold to you is not legitimate and installing and using it is a copyright infringement. I'm sure Caravel would very much like you to be able to appreciate the game legally by getting it through a legal channel. I'm also sure Caravel would love for you to take some action against the party who defrauded you so that you might recover some or all of the money you were defrauded of, and so that this party might not defraud others in a similar way.
