What levels did you hear to be "Sooooo hard" but you blew through them? what "Easy" level kept you for 2 months?
Overrated: 17, blew past it in a few hours.
Underrated: 15, I despise trapdoors.

I don't know if level 15 is underrated - I think everyone more-or-less agrees it's one of the hardest ones - espeically in 1.6 where the rooms that were previous avoidable no longer are.

I think whether a level is easy or hard relative to its placing depends a lot on how experienced a player is. By the time you finish Dugan's Dungeon once, fending off large amounts of roaches/tar babies and carving through tar become second nature. Level 8, which is extremely difficult the first time you play it, becomes a lot easier the second time. Levels like 15 or 9, where you have to think about solving puzzles remain just as difficult the second time around, unless you happen to remember the solution from the first time.

I agree, level 8 was very hard the first time through. I thought levels 9 and 22 were actually pretty easy. Level 23 sucked really bad for me...I had to read a lot of the old posts on the Hints and Solutions board (but I never had to ask for help for myself throughout the entire game). I hate it when you know exactly how to do a room but you just keep dying or misstepping...that was always my main problem.

Game on,

For me, it was probably level 17, especially 1N, 2W. The scroll said "a great deal of efficiency" but I didn't realise how efficient it really meant until I began playing it. I also think Erik should have put "patience" in there somewhere too - playing it in Webfoot DROD was really nasty. :D

Thank God for checkpoints!

Level 8 was a major pain in the ass. Let's face it, tar looks funny and that squishy sound when you hack your sword into it might be even funnier...but as soon as twelve freshly spawned tar babies are standing BEHIND you, this game becomes sadistic.

I'm still in trouble with the goblins on Level 14, but compared to Level 8, it's just tricky. :D

And an interesting fact is that I found Level 13, the so-much-hated-labyrinth, quite easy. I ran around for half an hour, then I finished it.

I agree with you on level 13 - that was easier than people make it out to be.

Level 8 was sadistic - I like your description of the tar.

It's all a blur now... or maybe it's just late.

Matt
