I maneuvered Halph to stand one square south of where he starts and used him as a wall to block monsters from the south.

Edit: I think the intended solution is to stand on the yellow doors (use halph to toggle the switch for you while you stand on one of the yellow squares).

I used your technique made Halph the wall ... Thank you.

It seems almost impossible to reach the area of the gates + wait for Halph to then close it ...
