Googling for "Woman Holding Ferret" is more effective - it turns up the painting via a Terry Prachett reference (see also the Mona Ogg).

Alright, here's my stab at making one. I apologize for the image dimensions, but I made it in kind of a hurry, plus the image dimensions are relevant to what this image appears on. Erik, why not take more of a crossword-clue approach to the descriptions, like this?

Sometimes, I have a hard time writing words inside of squares. I like to be able to have very small squares with long descriptions if needed. And other times it's possible to have all labels inside of squares, but I'm trying to be consistent across puzzles.

Sounds like I'm taking it all too seriously, eh?

Heh. I recognized the first two almost immediately, and the third after some head-scratching. The last two don't mean anything to me ... as far as I can tell at the moment.

[edit]Now that I've looked at the hints-and-solutions, here's my explanations for why 4 and 5 were more difficult for me: in the case of 4, the main problem was that I've never come across the original. 5 I had seen, but apart from the more "crosswordy" style of descriptions I think it's also a factor that the picture isn't very memorable.[/edit]

Cool, that's consistent with my intended difficulty. They are supposed to go from easy to hard. There are some progressive hints for the puzzles over here.
