Not a huge spread, though, and even the lowest-rated hold was above a 5. (Personal note: I rather liked Robin's hold, though I did rate it somewhat lower than its fun value due to its one-room nature.)

I'll freely admit to my shock at placing fourth, since I had no idea what I was doing (and I think I might've had a misdirected staircase). Anyone with comments on my hold, positive or negative, please feel free to PM me; I'd love to hear them.

Actually, MeckMeck stated from the beginning that Robin's hold didn't count because it didn't meet the criteria, being only 1 room. Some people may have still rated it lower because of that, but since it was never in the running, I don't think it should be counted like that.

This was truly an exciting contest. The first place hold changed many times (between 4, 7 and 13) and there was never a big difference between them. With a little luck, Rabscuttle or Jacob could've won just as well.

I don't know if anyone noticed them, but I found 2 trivial solutions in my hold shortly after the poll began. One in 1S, which is pretty serious: You should have to exit through the top exit where the wubba was. Also another one in (can't remember coordinates) the room with tar mother and a mimic potion. It's currently possible to do the room without "dancing", but it's not as easy to do as the first trivial solution.

I shall post the updated hold that should be used for the compilation when I get home. It still fits all of the original requirements.

Wow seemed my ranking improved over time. Once again the hardest puzzle rooms seemed to score the highest. Oh well I am not a hardest puzzle fan but I had fun in this contest. I never concured most of the holds that scored the highest. :blush

Congrats to all the high scoring hold, good job, just wish I didn't need a cheat sheet to figure them out. ( could you build a hold to train me on the concepts I should have figured out?) ;)

I voted the highest on the Desert of Fools hold (which I didn't know was Rabscuttle until now). I thought it was a perfect set of puzzles that were challenging and made you think, but weren't so hard as to make you give up in frustration, or look so daunting as to make you want to put it off to another day. (Not that I rated any holds that did meet those criteria harshly; I was very appreciative of being able to make difficult rooms in a short period of time and with limited resources. I just have more fun with less challenging material.)

10th place flat. Oof. Oh well, at least I did beat several holds.

I think my main problem was that I was too rigidly sticking to my plan of one level per monster. Also, I didn't use nearly all of my materials. If I had, I probably would have had more and better rooms, for a goodly-sized dungeon. But oh well. At the very least, it'll still be a fun part of the compilation. Well done, everyone!

"The Pit" definitely deserved to win. I loved it: the brained/unbrained tar baby room was indeed incredibly cool.
"The Desert of Fools" was also highly ranked by me. Several rooms made me think "this is impossible", giving me a sense of accomplishment when I'd completed them.
Entry 1 was pretty good too, but a bit sparse and linear and Dali's hold was pretty clever too.
I liked Sim's hold; shame he didn't get it in in time. Maybe it could be included in the compilation?
It was interesting to note that many people had rooms where wubbas had to be manipulated to block the path of snakes/roaches/mimics; it was a recurrent theme.

Ah, yes, Entry 1.

I....actually, a lot of the rooms originally used a lot of custom floors and things. You know, the kind which I assume were free (The textures and all that.)

The thing is, I took them out. I really wanted to take this contest to see how good of a room I could make with the /least stuff possible/. My intention was to see how many greckles I could end it with. (52, as you likely read in the hold.) I actually had stuff left over, but wanted to make the best hold I could with what I was given. I mostly bought random crap from Meckmeck, with few exceptions. I could have dropped some more monsters in that final room just to make it more irritating, but I decided that just wasn't worth it.

But I'm satisfied with my place, it...keeps up a pattern.
