Are you crying because your hold has a 6? Believe me, there are many people whos first hold is worse than that. (okay, officially, this is probably your second hold. :))

Remember, there's still a whole week to go, the first ones who vote are people who finish holds easily, and give more points the harder a hold is. I always vote late, and usually, for me, holds that are too hard is just not fun for me.

One thing I can say, your hold was much better than I had expected. (which is a good thing :))

Only once. It's most likely a case of someone clicking vote before they have selected all the options. It's affected nearly everyone equally, so it's not really worth worrying about (unless you get beaten by nine/twelfths or less :) )

When voting in contests (I haven't yet in this one), I normally give the best entry (according to the guidelines specified) a 10 and the worst one a 1. I then try to scale the other scores between these two. As a result, my votes have averaged at about 4, despite the fact that I often like most of them. So there's no reason to get too disappointed if you get some low votes.

Giving every entry except your own a 1 is of course a very different thing and IMO not acceptable.

And Banjooie, could you please try to be more careful next time? Your posts are becoming unpredictable lately. I must say that I also have some problems understanding your latest posts correctly (it must be me though).

Oh, and Jeff, some tips: Next time, try to ask the person what it really mean. If that is not possible, you can try to give + points to the other side. (I must say I've only given 2 - points, and I've spent more than 400 mod points. So I must be quite good at using the tips myself.)

No, it's not just you. Banjooie is dangerous! Scratch scratch! Meow.

I guess that an understanding admin reverted the -8. I suppose Jeff took justice into his own hands, not always a bad idea, but it didn't turn out too well. As an analogy, if you have a ball of paint, you can either draw a beautiful painting with it or put it in a paintball gun and shoot someone with it.

I'd rather leave it to an admin to decide about giving Jeff back his points, mainly because you have to remember that mod points are coupled with rank points. Call me cynical, but I don't think that Jeff's actions deserve rank points. I'm not trying to be mean or judgemental either; overall, Jeff is a great guy. But I'd rather not.

And Tim's tips are good, by the way. It's best not to be so "Vengeance is mine, saith the powerful guy" when you're not the powerful guy. (Neither am I.) I hope to never give away a negative mod while I'm here. Maybe I'll give a mild admonishment. Just maybe. After all, words speak may not always speak louder than numbers, but they're sure a little more helpful.

Actually, it could be more than a negative 8. When I went to the "recent posts" page it was a -4. Then I clicked on the link, and it was a -8. It could have gone up.

Well I finally got through most of the rooms in the holds some were just way too hard and while that may be fun for some of you it is not for me. I voted the ones that were moderately hard as more fun than the just plain frustratingly hard ones(you know who you are).

I was glad to see that my hold did so well. I had alot of fun building it. Most of you did better on the entry and exit text than I did. I will learn from that. Some of your puzzles I will never figure out. :blush So I hope some of you will post either demos or solutions after the contest ends.
