Dugan's Dungeon - Fourth Level: Once North

Complete the room always facing north, and kill the Roach 1 and 2 by yourself without you hit the orb.

I'm not sure *anybody* actually uses the second potion for anything constructive. When I solved this room I thought "Wha? A second mimic? But why?"

It was probably because of the whole "crumbly walls are harder to see in AE" thing.

"Eh, wuts that whippersnapper? The second mimic not good for anything, eh? Shows what you know, what with all your modern 'efficent' smiting... you're in and your out and you never stop to take in the sights, eh? Have a nice quiet meal, eh?

Well, I'll tell you what that mimic is for, so listen up sonny. When you get to be my age... the teeth don't work so good, and the roach acid and bile, well they get cruel on the digestibles, like a hundred goblins camping out right down in your tummy. Now your aged and battlehardened mimic, the teeth just can't take it... but a fresh one... is like an explosion of flavor.. thats right sonny, a taste explosion right in your mouth... like unto the finest

I was just reflecting on the second mimic not being used as part of the challenge, as I was thinking "Regardless, who uses it?"

But I realised in this case it would help because you could just put it behind you or in a convenient location to kill one of the roaches.

What's that got to do with the mimic?
The crumbly walls don't go to the orb.

You cannot use the 2nd mimic since you can't open the orb.

Yeah, but that's what you use the first mimic for anyways. My point exactly.

Hey everyone, remember me?
Think about one of my first sigs, and you will probably figure out why the potion is there.

I remember you, but I don't remember any of your sigs other than that one. Probably because I wasn't here that long.

I don't know why you guys are looking for the utility of that mimic. It's there propably to confuse the player who don't know that he can kill all roaches with beethro.

You missed it! :) It was pretty popular then. Search some older posts and you will probably find it. It was my theme for a long time. One of my holds is about it.

rowrow, I'm pretty sure you're not talking about the Gmail sig. Are you?

Well, that signature didn't become part of the official DROD canon.

I wasn't around when your sig was different, but might you be talking about this hold?

Yeah I get that but... what is an "idiot" of which you speak?

I kept looking either way, but never found what I thought I was looking for!

Nice one Coppro.

Well I suggest that someone open a new topic in the 'Forum games' with these kind of puzzles (how to ... An idiot for example) Because this thread isn't the place for them.

Basically, to summarize, I read the challenge description that included "don't use the second mimic" and thought "That isn't necessary, because nobody actually uses it anyway".

Apologies for bumping this thread, but I'd just like to say that there are absolutely no crumbly walls in my version of DROD for that room (DROD:AE). Is it true that there are not any crumbly walls in some versions of DROD:AE?

No, the crumbly walls are in the AE version of this room. The picture is from the AE version, but uses JtRH graphics. AE graphics for normal broken walls is hard to see, but much easier to see in JtRH.

KDD2.0 uses Secret Walls instead of Broken Walls, which is a version of crumbly walls that is a lot harder to see because it only shows up when it's on the edge of a wall, so you actually have to break through it to see where it leads.

So yeah, all the versions I've seen do have some version of crumbly wall there. If there's any older version that doesn't, I don't know what it is.
