Hey, I've been working on a hold!

Now before your eyes immediately dart to the left of this post, you should notice that there is no file. This is because I'm not done. Rather, I have a two questions. (Aw, shucks.)

1. Beethro lives on Throdinger Hill. Is this Hill in Dugandy, one of its "suburbs," or elsewhere? EDIT: If so, where would this Hill be located on the picture of Dugandy (seen at the end of King Dugan's Dungeon)?
2. Like many JtRH holds, this one uses the Slayer. I want my hold to be canonically correct, so can I make the him a Slayer other than the 39th?

I was thinking about putting this thread in General, but decided against it. By the way, an avocado goes to the first person who answers this thread! Act now!

1. If I remember correctly, it's in one of the "suburbs" so to speak. Not *too* far out from the plains, if I remember right.

2. Sure - Krishh did that already :)

Thanks! Have an avocado: o

In the hold you're refering to (Krishh's castle, I assume), didn't Krishh simply have the 39th say that the 36th trained him?

I don't think the Slayer in Krishh's Castle is 39th - in the second encounter or so Beethro says "You don't look like a Slayer" meaning he's already met 39th and thus knows what a Slayer is. I'd say Krishh is 37th Slayer. Maybe 45th, or less, because you kill him with a bomb.

The idea was that he pretty much failed to become a slayer, that being the reason why he wasn't very good at slayering. My hold is supposed to come after JtRH, but it also not ment to be canonical, so it's not a good example here.

Regarding the slayers:

If you want to be cannonical, you could use a slayer, but it's best if you don't use a very low number (5th slayer) for reasons that I'm not sure I'm allowed to explain (or that are still relevant, actually, but it's something that came up during JtRH development). Otherwise, technically it *can* be the 39th slayer, because when Beethro killed the 39th slayer, the previous 40th slayer was promoted to 39th slayer. So Beethro can meet the 39th slayer, but it will be someone different than the 39th slayer from JtRH, if it makes sense. It might not be a great idea to do that, though, because it's not clear how much Beethro understands this so if he reacts to it in one way that may be incompatible with his understanding of Empire ranks in other cannonical holds.

Note that if you want, once you complete the hold and before you release it I'm sure members of the dev team (I can definitely guaruntee myself but maybe someone with more control over the cannon like Erik or Mike too) will agree to look it over and see that there's nothing that needs to be changed. That way you'll be certain not to run into trouble with cannon that's in TCB and you don't know about yet.

This is part of the normal procedure for Smitemaster's Selection holds, by the way.

Do all Slayers look alike? I know all the guards wear standard uniforms, but do Slayers wear uniforms too? Or would 45th wear something different than 39th?

Now, if the 28th stabbed the 19th, then the Empire would be abuzz. Would it not?

By the way, I want to represent King Dugan. Which character would the Caravel Team advise me to use? If it’s too much trouble, I’ll just have him as a Voice Over or simply have him forget that Beethro needs to meet him in the first place. If so, he would never have to appear onscreen. Sounds very Dugan-like.

I'd say that the biggest problem with having Dugan as a character is that there are no characters big enough...

(you'd need at least a two-square character (not including sword))

No, it's just the angle. Beethro's further away in that picture than Dugan is.

Although he is pretty fat :)

Remember, if you want to be canonically correct, and your hold is supposed to have been built by the DAA, you want to put a secret room with the DAA seal in there somewhere.

Does the world of the eighth have a sport? I'm making a stadium, and I wanted to know if I should just make a sport up.

He was never a Slayer, because his instructor thought him unfit. See that hold's ending.
