Jumping Jiminy, what a room!

Question 1: In the snake/goblin/wraith subroom on the west wall, how do you stay alive after releasing the goblin and wraith? I assume you use the snake, but I can't get it to do anything for me.

Question 2: The only way I can conceive of clearing the eyeballs in the north-east corner is by

but I can't manage this, nor can I see exactly how it protect my left flank.

Can anyone help me?

Huh! I thought I had finished AQP, but I was wrong! Luckily, I was in this room, so I worked my way over to the goblin/ww/snake area and I beat it by having my sword facing SE and drawing the snake across the top of the yellow door. Then you can beat a retreat north along the E wall.

I also recommend:

As for the eyes in the northeast corner, you are incorrect. I can post other hints if you like

Thanks for those hints.

Re the snake, goblin and (w|r)ingwraith room,
Click here to view the secret text

Re the eyeballs: I see I had more than one incorrect assumption.

Room solved! Hold solved! Deleted scenes examined (one solved, two given up on).

BUT: only 1 of the three scroll riddles on level 7 solved. For me, the riddle in 2N1E was the easy one; I gather that other people found that one hard and 2N1W or 2N easy.

Thank you, "jdyer", for a great hold. I'm rating it as a 10 (with difficulty 9).

I'm having trouble with the roaches in the top left (nw) corner. Can anyone give me a nudge in the right direction please?

I'm having trouble with the last lot of roaches... the ones released from the red walls.
I am coming down from the right hand side, and wonder if I should have done the sections the other way round. Does it make a difference? If not, what's the easiest way to get those roaches?
Catherine

I did it from the other entrance, but I think it should work the same from your entrance. Just mirror the directions given in my steps below accordingly... :)

I tried doing what Stigant said about the snake in the west/center part of the room long before I looked at the forum, but I always seem to get sandwiched between the snake and the goblin with no room to swing my sword.

I'm guessing I released the snake at the wrong time, but going back and changing that isn't doing much to help. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

That did the trick. I just needed that one extra space, but running the snake next to the pit like that worked.

I really hate asking for help this much, but I'm at my wit's end, and finishing this last room will let me rest easy tonight.

For the bottom right corner, the moves are very forced, and I can get onto the force arrow just fine. Afterwards, the only potentially successful move is NW, but the roaches from the north slow me down too much and the roaches from the south catch up and kill me. I've tried going both ways around the first horizontal wall, and going west seems like the best bet, but this is one of those specific solutions puzzles that I'm absolutely horrible at, and I can't seem to make any headway. I'm almost compelled to brute force/Depth-First Search it at this point...

:selftwak

I was under the impression that you had to do it entirely with the sword facing N.

Now that I know otherwise, I can probably figure it out myself.

Thanks for dealing with me this much, Briareos. You've been a great help in every stupid situation I've put myself in. I'd give you candy, but you know what they say about taking candy from strangers :P

Edit: I solved the room on my own and then looked at your spoilers again. Following your lead gets Beethro stuck in an unsolvable situation.

Well, it's part of my victory demo, so it's definitely possible - but of course it's entirely possible to maneuver yourself into an unsolvable situation anyway.

After the

followed by giving all the remaining roaches and queens a good smiting.

Hmm, we must be playing different versions of the hold. After the
Click here to view the secret text
, I have roaches on the East side that followed me up from the bottom corner, so moving eastward with my sword pointed west is kind of a bad idea. I know for sure that it's impossible to escape if you kill all the bottom roaches before heading north, because by then, the roaches from the north have gotten past the southernmost horizontal wall, meaning you'd have to turn your sword north to get past them.

Maybe we should discuss using PMs so we don't clog up the hints forum :)

Hey! I don't know how you guys got that far - I am stuck in the first section on the SW (2 x goblins & snake) or at least I am working out this is the first section.

My start so far is:-

Hit the orb facing North and back down without beaking the crumbly walls - but that is an impasse as the snake just gets dizzy but does not fall over. Any help?

Cheers
Chris

Hi Briareos

Sorry to take so long to resond, but it goes to show just how many super HOLDS there are now in DROD.

Thanks for help - at least I am now out of the first 'box'

Cheers
