Alright, this game is sorta like google fight, only it uses the frequency of words in the English language.
This site lists the first 86800 most common words in order. You can search for individual words or search for a particular rank.
So here's how the game is played:
A category is chosen, and a word is chosen to start it off. The ranking of that word is listed after the word (for example, if "
reading"
was the word, I'd write it as "
reading (926)"
). The next person to go has to find a word within that category that starts with the last letter of the previous word and is more common than it. If the word you find is within 100 words of the previous word, you get to pick a new category and starting word. If nobody can find a new word within a few days, someone can start a new category.
For example...
Let's say the category is flowers. I could start with sunflower (27156). The next person to go could say, "
rose (897) beats sunflower (27156)."
Of course, I'd then have to think up a flower that begins with the letter e and is more common than rose, and since I only know about 5 types of flowers, I'd be out of luck.
So let's get started with the category
animals. The first word is
aardvark (71660).
