Presumably you are entering from the South!

Top half easy peasy, lower half death comes quick and frequent. Down and left or right or straight = too many to kill. And you may assume entry from the south since that's the only way in.

The lower half is indeed deadly:



Standing at 1 at time 23-24, with sword at SE, queen starting at 2 has moved to 3, queen starting at 4 has moved to 5, one roach at 6, full of roaches in the passage marked with 7.

I can't crack this room, any tips, if I move into the south half I get killed within 10 moves.

This isn't so much about 1West as it is about how to get to the rooms in the upper North part of this level. I've beat all the rooms in the south (including the roaches in 1West) and the rooms and passage way that give you the Exit Level message. Once I go down to 1West and use the stairwell, it takes me to the next level. Can anyone tell me where I am going astray so I can get the rooms above?

Ok, I've cleared this room, and so far as I can tell, teh rest of the available hold. The Goblin King told me to go down and get gold, yadda yadda. None of the rooms on the mini-map are red, and I am pretty darned sure that I can not get to any additional areas.

So what's my challenge? The blue walls between me and the staircase won't come down!

Believe me, I have systematically explored every room that I can get back to, and there is nothing living. Those rooms I can't get back all show as cleared on the mini-map. I've walked away and come back fresh for 3 days in a row, and I just cannot get off this level.

Sugestions?

I just finish this room tonight as you did. Are you sure you visited all rooms? Did you compare the minimap of your level with the one of the forum? Did you go to Once North, as I am going right now? Did you see "Exit Level"?

Annoying room.. Should be a X somewhere earlier IMHO.. or.. am I doing it really badly and I should be able to get to the one that is there?
I can't decode any of the previous clues as I can't see the image the numbers refer to..

A subsciption to CaravelNet will allow you to see the room images here, as well as a whole bunch of other cool stuff. (CaravelNet FAQ) For now, you can still see the (x,y) coordinates by hitting Quote Reply to the message that has the room image in it.

When I do that, it yields ...
one=17:19&two=7:27&three=23:29&four=11:14&five=20:23&six=22:26&seven=17:22

So, point (1) has coordinates (17,19) and so on...

According to your high scores, you haven't visited the room. Rooms that require CaravelNet to view also require that the player has visited them. When you reach the room, you should be able to see the image.

The CaravelNet FAQ, see the link a couple posts up, has answers to all kinds of questions like that. In your case:
1. Go to the main menu of DROD, and check that the CaravelNet icon in the upper right corner has a checkmark in it. If so, you are properly logged on.
2. Refresh this page. If you are properly logged on, going to the main menu updates your progress and you'll be able to see new room images.

I killed roach queen at 17,25 first, then - ones at 23,29; 24,25 and 24,23.

I really have tried to follow the advice in these posts, but I can't get anywhere in the bottom compartment.

For example -- someone posted (the post with the picture) that he/she got to point #1 at time 23 or 24, but I can't get there in less than 30 steps. I then have a boatload of spawns to kill, and time only for a couple of steps, before they have respawned and are coming at me from both directions.

Looking to try the challenge in this room and having trouble getting past the roaches to the SW of Beethro before the queens spawn again. Any tips? Any special place to maneuver the queens ahead of time?
