I need help. I can't move the mimic to the upper right (or left). I can only clear front roaches and the roaches at the either side, but not three sides altogether.

I'd say this looks nastier than it ends up really being.

I cheated a bit in this room and I killed the slayer when it was easy. I might go around to all the rooms I did that to and redo them. But I didn't kill the slayer in level 18 where he is the most annoying.

How is that possible? I thought that the only way to kill the Slayer was using a mimic/decoy? Could you give a hint on how to do that?

It's difficult, but possible, as shown here.

Boy, if there's any one thing I've learned from this game, it would be humility. I would hate to be "that guy" and rerequest help, but I can't make heads or tails of this level.

When you say CC, do you mean counterclockwise in tight little circles to avoid the slayer, or as an overall progression? I think the tight CC circles is obvious, but I can't make that strategy work for me. Can you please elaborate?

Would it be helpful if I wait initially, and hold off the slayer, until all the roaches bunch up near me, or dash for the mimic potion as quickly as possible?

Lastly, I've tried using roaches as a temporary stop block so I can get the mimic to the west side of the room, but the angled north and south walls make that very difficult (not to mention the slayer).

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

The Challenge of this room:
Kill the slayer with the mimic and then leave the room.

Click here to view the secret text

Mimic is at "1" and Beethro on one of the "2"'s

Is that a good killing position?

I assume this means Slayer at 1. If so I can't get him there with his sword in the suggested position and Beethro in position also. Any advice on how to do that or any other advice on how the heck to complete the challenge. Slayer manipulation has always been my weakest part of DROD. Well, I guess not always, but since JTRH.

Position the Slayer near the south wall of the room, get him to face NW by approaching his "threatened area" from that direction, then walk towards him from the west with your sword NE. The Slayer will retreat (this is also the key to the killing method in a rectangular room with an obstacle in the corner). In this case, the shape of the wall means the Slayer will retreat to the position marked "1".

Demo attached. The method of slayer pushing that gets used here comes in handy an awful lot so you may want to try to learn it and practice it. The key is to have Beethro and the slayer against the same wall, with the slayer's hook and Beethro's sword both pointing diagonally towards each other but away from the wall. If the slayer doesn't have his hook pointing correctly, you can usually coerce him to change orientation by moving away from the wall for a turn or two then moving back on it. Once in this position you can move towards the slayer and he will retreat. The hold "Slayer Killing Hold" has a nice tutorial that shows off how to use this method in the first room.
