I haven't looked at the earlier reports of the buggy import/export functions, so I don't know if this is related to a known issue. Anyway, I just upgraded from build 23 to 25. I have a player who's completed Dugan's dungeon, the Tim Zone, the Old Sewers of Blorn, and first level of Claythro Tower. Before upgrading, I exported this player. No problems. I also made a backup of drod1_6.dat, just to be on the safe side. Then I ran the upgrade for build 25. After upgrading, I imported the three custom holds I mentioned before, and then the player file. But the player is now registered as having completed nothing. What could be causing this?

Can you attach your build 23 player file to a reply message? I will try to reproduce it.

Eh, nope. The file is too big, apparently. I'll email you with it.

Wait, that isn't necessary, after all. I forgot that I could zip the file. So here you go.

Sorry, could you zip up your player.dat and text.dat files along with your drod1_6.dat? I need them all to effectively test this out.

No, I'm afraid I don't have backups of those two. I didn't realize that they were necessary.

Edit: Here's another thought. Since you know the format for exported player files, I suppose you could look at it and figure out whether the player is noted as having completed the four dungeons. Would that be possible? If so, I'll attach that file to my next message.

Yes, we can look at it: it contains all the information about a player, including all their settings, saved games and demos. The reason I wish I could get my hands on the 3 data files is that then I could run DROD with them in my debugger and find out exactly what's going on. Without them, it's virtually impossible to reproduce your situation on my setup. But I can at least tell you that looking at your drod1_6.dat there were at least a couple save files present indicating holds were beaten. If you weren't seeing that on your end, it's a bug. But unfortunately that's all I can tell you about it.

Just to make sure, what exactly do you mean by this? Do you mean the player has no saved games for any of the holds showing on the restore screen, or that he's not able to edit any of the holds, or...?

Well, he can edit the three user holds, since anyone can. But he can't enter the Restore screen regardless of which hold is selected, and clicking Continue starts him from the beginning.

Also, here's the exported file.

The one from build 25? If so, here it comes. If you meant the build 23 one, I don't have it.

Yeah, your player file only contains saved games for Eytan's dungeon (Sewers of Blorn). I'm pretty sure what caused this is a previous bug where only saved games for the currently selected hold were getting exported in the player data. Now it should export saved games for all holds. Let me know if this is still not fixed for exporting in build 26.

Will do... when I've completed all four dungeons. Again. :evilmad:
