I'm sure you're probably busy doing other things right now, but if this is something that could be done in 2 minutes it would be helpful..

I have just gone from dialup to broadband and thus am very cautious about my cap - meaning, just to start, I have been turning off images in my browser. But unfortunately, the 'new posts' and 'unread' etc pictures don't have any text replacements and aren't showing up at all - I've been using the time of posts/view recent posts to look at new posts, but if adding text for when pictures aren't loaded could be done in a minute, it would be nice

When I was on the text-only Links, they had their captions as it should have been. Have other pictures had their appropriate text-only captions?

Ah, I've just had a look with IE and it works there, its just in firefox that it removes the images completely.. though I am still using the beta.

I took a look at the images and I believe that Firefox is acting correctly. The standard way to add alternate text for an image is to use the alt attribute. But the images for new posts/no new posts don't have an alt attribute. They do, however, have a title attribute reading either "No new posts" or "New posts". Changing this to an alt attribute should fix the problem.

I don't want to change it to alt, because then a mouseover wouldn't show you what the folder means. I don't have a problem with adding an alt tag though.

Ah, of course, I forgot about the mouseover. Yes, then adding an alt tag with the same text as the title tag would probably be best.
