icon DROD room image bug... (0)
This doesn't seem to have been addressed much, but something should be done about the lack of transparency in the DROD room images. The images can throw people off when objects in the higher layers are completely covering up lower-layer objects. This bug didn't exist in 2003, and I'm not sure when exactly it started, but if it isn't fixed people will be thrown off. This bug already threw someone off when someone asked for help in the exit room of "Catacombs" in "Temple of Kurath," because the trapdoors didn't show underneath the force arrows.

Schik, do you or another administrator have time now to look into this?

If I'm not mistaken Schik wrote a utility that renders DROD rooms with the same code as is used in the game. That should get rolled out onto DROD.net sometime after JtRH release.

Also, Noah, can I ask that you just present the feature or bug without the extra prodding about who is going to do it and is there time for it? I know you don't mean anything bad, but I find asking for statements of committal from volunteers a tad distasteful.

Sure. Now that I know you don't like it.

What Erik said. This issue has been dealt with, you just won't see it until some time after JtRH is released.

FYI, this bug appeared when we switched to our own server, and a different (older) version of PHP came with it.

No one likes being basically ordered to do something by someone who has no authority over them. It is the height of arrogance, and it's even worse when it's disguised as humility.

Game on,

I hate to sound silly, but could you update PHP?

I'd have to upgrade Apache as well if I did that. And then I'd probably break our Control Panel software we've got on the server, and I'd really hate to do that. So maybe I could, but it's really not worth the time to do so. As noted, this point will be moot when we start using JtRH pictures for room images.
